Quick-Links and Downloads for
MBARI Quality Controlled FloatViz Data

------------------------------- NEAR REAL TIME DATA DOWNLOADS -------------------------------

For the most up-to-date SOCCOM float data, processed every 4 hours by the SOCCOM Data Management team at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) , visit ftp://ftp.mbari.org/pub/SOCCOM/FloatVizData/. Quick links to various datasets available on this ftp site are listed in the table below. Note that this ftp site also includes data for floats deployed outside of the SOCCOM array.

NOTE THAT QC flags in all file formats served through this site are NOT the same as the Argo QC flags found through the GDAC file holdings. The flagging scheme for these downloadable files follow ODV-format; Data quality flags: 0=Good, 4=Questionable, 8=Bad, 1=Missing or not inspected

-------------------------------------- REFERENCE -------------------------------------------------------

Authors using SOCCOM float data should acknowledge that "Data were collected and made freely available by the Southern Ocean Carbon and Climate Observations and Modeling (SOCCOM) Project funded by the National Science Foundation, Division of Polar Programs (NSF PLR -1425989), supplemented by NASA, and by the International Argo Program and the NOAA programs that contribute to it. The Argo Program is part of the Global Ocean Observing System ( http://doi.org/10.17882/42182,  http://argo.jcompos.org )

LowRes files are 30 Mbytes and only have data at the depths where chemistry is sampled. HiRes files have CTD and some chemistry data at 2 m resolution in the upper 1000 m of the profile. Those archives are about 100 Mbytes.

Parameters that may be included in these files are: Pressure, Temperature, Salinity, Sigma_theta, Oxygen, OxygenSat, Nitrate, Chl_a, Chl_a_corr,b_bp700,b_bp_corr, POC, pHinsitu, pH25C, b_bp532, CDOM, and three methods for calculating TALK, DIC, and pCO2.

Calibration for BGC sensors follows methods described in:
